It's the End of the World (as we know it): Balancing the Pillars of Health

Updated: Sep 25, 2020

It’s the End of the World as We Know It… I just heard that R.E.M. song this morning and it could have been written for today. It does seem like the end of the world as we know. There’s a deadly virus out there. There are people in authority hurting others badly. Life is not what we thought it would be. But in the middle of all of this I feel fine. I know that sounds callous. But feelings are fleeting, aren’t they? I could feel miserable in a minute. I feel fine because I have hope. I have hope because we humans have so much goodness inside us and for every terrible act I see there is one, two or three acts of love going on. People standing on porches waving and banging on pots for health care workers. Police officers hugging protesters. People running from car to homes delivering food and supplies. This is for you. Please do not give up hope. Not matter what you are feeling right now there is a way. I want to walk alongside you to help you find your way.

There are EIGHT PILLARS OF HEALTH. During trying times in our lives, each of them, social, emotional, spiritual, financial, intellectual, physical, occupational and environmental are impacted. When one is suffering the rest can be thrown out of balance affecting your life personally. For example, if you are having extreme money problems your diet (part of your physical wellbeing) is negatively affected. You may not have money to shop where you did for the healthy foods your body needs to thrive. That in turn can affect your emotional state as you worry about where your next meal will come from, and your environmental state as you encounter the loss of a safe home. When you are in a situation like this your spirit wanes and it is hard to concentrate. You are in survival mode and you can not even think about options because you are too worried, confused, hungry, cold. I can show you ways to get centered so you can think straight long enough to make decisions.
